KJWW Engineering Consultants provided structural, electrical, and mechanical engineering services, including fire protection and plumbing, at a new medical office building for Delnor Community Hospital.
The 108,000 SF building was developed on the 87-acre Delnor Community Campus in Geneva, Ill. One of four office buildings in the Fox Valley area, the campus location was selected to help accommodate patients and doctors of the hospital.
On the structural end, shell and core designs were pertinent to anticipate future physician suite development in the building. Included in the services were designs for structural floor, roof framing, associated columns, a lateral-force-resisting system, and lintels for wall openings. Among the mechanical designs, the fire protection systems included sprinkler zone designations and standpipe locations.
The building was planned to have interior roof drainage and domestic hot and cold water risers and distribution loops.
KJWW also designed distribution loops to be used in the HVAC designs, providing heating, ventilating and air conditioning loops, as well as reheat water central system and distribution loops.
The electrical services projected the standard interior lighting and controls. Telecommunications conduit drops and façade and sidewalk lighting around the building’s perimeter were also designed.
