This award-winning new $25M academic library and classroom/art building uses an integrated thermal energy recovery system with natural ventilation and photovoltaics. Certified LEED Gold, the high-performance building design reduced energy costs by 40%. The challenge was designing a natural ventilation system for the Midwest’s extreme temperature and humidity levels and the building application. The project received the 2009 Building Design + Construction's 'Building Team Award' and the 2008 ACEC-IL 'Honor Award'.
